The Great Unraveling

Some would call the era we live in today "The Great Awakening", but prefer to call it "The Great Unraveling".   While yes we are "waking up" once again in America (as Ronald Reagan put it), but we are also waking up to a great mess.  A tangled weave of beaucracy, deceit, lies and backroom deals.  Sometimes we feel like Gulliver of "Gullivers Travels" waking up and finding ourselves tied to the ground by a weave of string webbed together by a host of "little people".   We now must get up from this mess and untangle ourselves.  We are re-learning our history and re-teaching our children who have been lied to over a long period of time and re-training them on what it means to be an American.   I was agast at a video I saw where Jay Leno interviews several people and asks them BASIC BASIC questions about the 4th of July.   People could be recount WHO we were getting our independence from let alone WHY.  Others could not even remember how many colonies there were or who led the Americans in the fight.   In one family the father, mother and son where shown ALL to be idiots when it came to their own countries history.  It was the GRANDFATHER of their family that was the only redeeming member who knew all the answers.   I must say I have learned more about my history in the past 4 months than I have in my entire life.  My hope is that more and more people will wake up and help unravel the mess we are in.  We need to talk to our friends and our neighbors and get them involved.   We need to show them that they cannot count on the schools to do the job for them because THEY WON"T for they are part of the "little people" trying desperately to hold us down with their tiny ropes of lies and half-truths.

War WITH the States

We have all heard of the "War between the States" otherwise known as the "Civil War", but now a new war is looming on the horizon these days.  The War WITH the States.  In the past 18 months the current administration has strained relationships with various states.   The strain is the product of:

1) Overstepping of Federal Goverment on Health-care
2) Immigration in Arizona
3) The mishandling of the oil spilling into the Gulf of Mexico and not allowing states to be involved.

All of these have made tension between the state and federal governments to be at an all time high.  Most of this is due to Obama's lack of understanding and respect for the roles of these two separate and distinct levels of government.   If Obama could have his way, I am sure he would rather have state governors be "appoionted" by the emperor ... uh president and serve at HIS pleasure rather than be elected by the people of said state.  To him this would solve all the hostility there is between the states and the feds by essentially merging the two together.   But that is not how our system is set up nor shouid it EVER be changed.   States are finally waking up from their slumber and seeing how they are being mistreated and malligned.   And so are the people.  They too see that the federal government is incapable of solving most (if not all) of their problems.   That they are too far removed (both physically and emotionally) from their problems.   They see that there is too much bureacracy and regulation at the federal level to be of any good.   Also, I think states are now going to start asserting themselves on all levels of government intervention and challenge the feds on more and more issues.  Take for example the claiming of land for federal use.  Utah is almost 80% federal land.  Resources that could be used by Utah are swallowed up by the feds and prevent that state from tapping those resources.   Also take the regulation of air and water.  Where in the Constitution does it give the feds the power to regulate a states on controls of their own resources.  Today people are starving in the California central valley because the federal government has decreased the water flow from California resevoirs.

What is needed:
To me we need an "Ants" moment.  Did you ever see the movie "Ants".   In the movie the ants are being controlled by the grasshoppers that fly in from time to time to take their "share" of the harvest (kind of like the IRS).  The ants accept this relationship as the grasshoppers are bigger and stronger than they are.  That is until they realize that there are more of them (the ants) than them (the grasshoppers).    The states need to wake up and have an "Ant moment"  and realize there are more of THEM (50 in fact) than there are of them (the feds).   By challenging the feds in court on EVERY LEVEL OF FEDERAL INTERVENTION we can over run them and keep them so busy that NOTHING can be done by them.  We, the states, have been too nice.  We need to act in our own SELF-INTEREST and fix our own problems.  As I always say:  "Its easier to do first and ask forgiveness later than it is to ask for permission".

R.I.P - 1st Amendment

Well its only a matter of time now and our First Amendment Rights will be taken away.  As you have probably seen the video of the congressman from South Carolina man-handling a student with a video camera asking him a simple question of whether or not he supports the Obama agenda.   I have seen "news people" try to turn this story up-side-down by making the student look like the bad-guy and the congressman as the "victim".  We have seen the use of video camera's in recent days with the Acorn videos and other public officials being rude and down right nasty to their consitutents.   It is only a matter of time America before the First Amendment will need some "tweaking" by the Federal Government.  Arguments will be made as to define the word "press", after all during the signing of the Constitution, the only people able to cover the news where people with Guitenberg "presses" (that is where the term press comes from).  Ceritainly the founding fathers never dreamed of legions of citizens armed with small boxes that can record moving pictures and sound all at the same time.  Certainly these simpletons cannot be included in the the same elite league of "journalists" like MSNBC, NBC, CNN.  We certainly must maintain order in our country and require people to identify themselves and be licensed.   We may also need to sign legal agreements like the one below:

I, _______________ do solemnly swear to never use __________  for the purpose of embarrassing a member of the Federal or State legislature, Union or "community organization".   That such use, while appearing to be that of a new-media-journalist is not acceptable unless I become a card-carrying liberal licensed by the Federal Government after taking the required 4 years of journalism school at Harvard, Yale, Princeton or Columbia University.  Failure to do so will result in 20 years in prison and a fine of $100,000.

Its only a matter of time!

Stealing the Constitution...an inside job

We have all seen the movie where an item like a diamond or a large amount of gold or a painting is stolen right from under the noses of the people guarding it.   The police investigating the crime begin to become suspicious as they find out that the item was insured for much more than it was worth and that the owner would actually benefit from it being stolen.  But also interesting is they find out that the reason the item was stolen so easily is that the security company used to guard the item was replaced in recent days by a less competent group of individuals making it almost child's play for the robbers to get away with the heist.   This is how I feel about Obama's selection for the Supreme Court as he has decided that what the top court of the land needs is someone with NO EXPERIENCE AT ALL to guard the Constitution.  This just shows you how little regard this president has for the Constitution.  As with anything,  the worth of something is easily judged by what you are will to do to PROTECT IT!  The White House is well protected to guard the president at all times.  Banks and Museums employ armed guards to protect their property from being stolen.   Well America, the Constitution is YOUR PROPERTY... NOT THE GOVERNMENTS.   By putting up judges with no experience is like hiring guards from Walmart or your local strip-mall to guard Fort Knox.  Ill prepared and ill equipped to prevent any thing from being stolen.  How would President Obama feel if Congress decided that the Secret Service was to be replaced with a group of "mall cops"?   I think he would feel that Congress did not care for his safety.  Well that is how I feel with this nomination.   If this were a movie,  the main characters would start wondering if the theft was an inside job?   Gee.  Did the owner WANT the item to be stolen?   Then why would they reduce their security?  Hmmmm..    We need to write our Senators and tell them to block this nomination at ALL COSTS!   We want real guards (not mall cops) protecting our most prized posession

You will not SEE you taxes go up

I have learned one thing about President Obama.  He is a man of his WORD!  Now to some of you out there, that seems like a ludicrous idea as he has delivered very little on what he has promised.  So how can I say he is a man of his WORD?  Well let me clarify a little here.

Obama is a man of his WORD in that you have to take what he says very LITERALLY!  Throughout the campaign in speech afer speech he gave he said "If you are making less than 250K a year you won't SEE your (federal) takes go up one single DIME".  The key here is the word: SEE.  Looking at the tax increases that have occured thus far in his presidency, Obama has added several taxes that most people either would not recognize as a tax increase or would not see at all.

First, for example, take the increased taxes on cigarettes.  Most of us when looking to see if the Federal government is taxing us more only look at our pay-stub and not our store receipts.  Given that people making less than 50K make up more than half of all smokers, I think its pretty certain that a very large percentage of people in America are paying more to the Federal government (FG), they just don't know it yet.

Another thing we won't see is the tax put on those of us with "cadillac" healthcare policies (how they determine this ... its hard to say).  Will I see an added tax?  Probably not.  Or at least it won't be labelled in any discernable way on my pay-stub.  Infact, many in Congress believe that their is a difference between a penalty paid to the Federal government and a tax.   Playing with words, they can look at you with a straight face and say "See?  We haven't raised your taxes at all!".

Finally, Obama is "considering" a Value-Added-Tax.  This tax will be completely INVISIBLE to the consumer as it is paid by the producer before the product leaves the factory.  The only change you will see is that many of your products will go up overnight (but knowing how sneaky the Feds are, they will SLOWLY raise the VAT over time so that you the consumer never really "see" it happen).  And speaking of the VAT, can you say "Job Killer"??  The VAT will ONLY be paid by American companies (yeah! Try collecting the VAT from companies in China or Inda!  The checks in the mail! Ha Ha Ha).  So we will be penalizing American companies and make it HARDER for them to compete on the global-market.  Good job Obama!

Those are just a few instances of where you can take Obama at his word and I am sure there will be many more to follow

Laziness vs Freedom

My daughter is in her Junior year and is taking US History.  They are currently discussing the Cold War and Communism. As we were talking, she asked me why do people gravitate towards this form of government which always ends in Totalitarianism.  As I thought about it I said the following:

I believe in every person there are 2 basic forces at play: the desire to be FREE and the desire to be LAZY.

Take for example, young people who have just graduated from high school or college.  On one hand they desire to be on their own and making their own decisions.  No longer can they be told by their parents when to come home, what time to get up and what they can do or not do.  At the same time these very same people desire to stay at home and be taken care of.  Living on your own has its own set of problems such as: paying your bills on time, cooking your own food, cleaning your own cloths, saving money for emergencies and taking yourself to the doctor when you don't feel well. It's SOOooo much easier to have someone else there to take care of all these things for you and for you to do nothing but be lazy.

Of course these desires are not limited to just young adults, as all of us have both of these forces inside of us.  Of course the desire to be FREE takes hard work, responsibility, sweat, diligence, and faith and self-control.  This is what America was built on and you see this when you read about our founding fathers.  How many of them were at the same time, leaders, writers, inventors, farmers, business owners and ambassadors.  They spent long hard days to make their dreams of a free country come true.

On the other side are those who desire to be LAZY more than they desire to be free.  They are like Esau, willing to sell their freedom for a plate of beans and to be taken care of.  The lazy desire to have everything given to them ; job, money, education, healthcare, retirement rather than to work for it.  Communisim is built on the backs of the LAZY and that is why it always fails as eventually the government must "whip" its LAZY subjects to make them work and these "whippings" eventually stir up their internal desire for...

FREEDOM!!

And so there you have it.  The price of FREEDOM is that you can't be LAZY and the price of being LAZY is FREEDOM.  And we see this at work today in our own country.  We became LAZY in respect to our countries politics.  I think we each believed that America could never go down the road of socialism towards communism.  We believed the the shear inertia of our history and will would keep us always on course like a giant oil tanker.  But little did we realize that small little tug-boats down below were slowly pushing our boat off course and pointing us towards the rocks.  And now, its "ALL HANDS ON DECK" to save this ship.

Obama's plan to bring back indentured servitude

It is estimated that nearly 50% of all slaves in the 1700's were white indentured servants from Great Britian and Europe.  Yet all we hear discussed is how awful it was to bring black slaves from Africa.   These indentured servants were people who were enslaved to pay off debts that they were unable to pay for lack of employment.   Often these slaves were traded just like their black counterparts and were bought and sold for land or other farm equipment like mules and oxen.  This practice ended by the LATE 1800's (yes ... LATE 1800's after the slaves were freed by the Civil War).

Now a little over a 100 years later and President Obama is proposing bringing back the use of indentured servants in the form of paying back Student Loans.  The administration is looking to propose alternative ways to allow college grads to pay back their loans by having them do 10 years of "Community Service" (Can you say "working for ACORN" ??).  Of course, like the indentured servants of old, people who work for a long period of time in a area of employment end up spending their entire life in that field as they cannot break out of the "role" they have been cast in.  Therefore these "community organizers" will forever be cast in their roles and will continue working for (and depending on) the government for their employment.  This is what we can look forward to, now that the Federal Government has taken over the Student Loan business from the banks and will be able to be "creative" in their writing of the "terms of the loans".   Is this what he meant when he said "I don't think reparations go far enough" ???  Is it time to enslave the white man?

Look out America!  This President is selling you out!

Do I take the money?

Last night I was doing my taxes using TurboTax and going through all of my normal deductions.  I had tried very hard this year to make sure my withholdings were correct so I would owe only a very small amount of money (I would rather pay a small amount than get a refund as refunds are nothing more than interest free loans we give the government).   As I neared the end I could see that I was going to owe about $200 and I was completely fine with that.  Then TurboTax asked me if I had a student in college, which I responded to with a "YES".  I entered the amount from the 1098-T sent to me by the college and instantly I saw my $200 payment to the feds turn into a $2300 refund from the government.  At first I was "elated" but then I thought about where that money was coming from.... THIN AIR!

I have written article after article about the outlandish spending of the federal government and how they were just printing money on paper with nothing to back it up.  Now it came down to ME.  Should I take the money?  One could easily rationalize that "ITS MY FAIR SHARE" and just take the money.  But I am sick and tired of everyone just out for themselves and not seeing the big picture.  One could also rationalize that its just a drop in the proverbial bucket that it won't really matter in the grand scheme of things. But where does this all end??  Have you seen the most recent commercials for the 2010 Census?  The central theme in all of them is that it's your CIVIC DUTY TO FILL IT OUT SO YOU CAN GET YOUR FAIR SHARE FROM THE GOVERNMENT.   Is that what its all about?   I thought that according to the constitution it was for the alotment of representatives, not of tax dollars.  Are we that selfish of a nation now, that we won't fill out a census (or at least the parts that we know are Constitutional), that we have to be bribed with money first?   Just what is "my fair share" anyway?  What happened to "Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what can I do for my country" (and that was in a speech from a Democrat!).  Have we morphed into "Ask not what I can give to my country, but what money can the country give me?"

But getting back to my tax situation... I am asking people who might read this blog to give me feedback.  What is your opinion?

Should I take the $2500 credit or not?

Let me know...

How to end a "divided nation"

We are often told today that the U.S. is a divided nation and that depending on which half is in power, the other half feels anger and dismissed and so the game of ping-pong-politics takes place pitting one side against the other.  Yet that is not how its supposed to be here in America.  But why has that come about?   I believe it is because we have lost sight of the fact we are the United "States" of America.  We were supposed to have 50 unique and differing states held together by a Constitution and a common set of ideals.  We are not the Nation of America, but the United "States" of America. It was the ability of our country to supply locations to its people where EVERYONE found a home that meet their individual needs and beliefs.

Do you want to smoke pot?  Go to California.
Do you want a nanny state that will take care of you from cradle to grave?  Go to New York.
Do you want to be left the hell alone?  Move to Montana or Texas.

In the end we all end up happy with where we are at and have more control over our lives.  But that is not what we have today.  Today, the federal government has reached well beyond its limits in Constitution (one even wonders if they think there are ANY limits at all these days) and has in effect "nationalized" all the states in such a way they are all the same.

Same drug laws.
Same business laws.
Same tax laws.
Same regulations
Same Same Same SAME!

One begins to feel "trapped" with no where to go and therefore the anger and frustration (on either side of the aisle) builds up and up. We need to get back to our founding principals of individual freedom at both the personal and the state levels.  You be you and I will be me.

You can mistreat your own body however you please... just don't come to me looking for help to fix the problems you have incured in the process.

You can be as foolish with your money and your finances as you please.... don't come to me looking for a handout because the creditors are knocking on the door.

You can "marry" whoever you please.... just don't expect me to attend your wedding and attend your church.

But when it comes to areas that the States have no control over, they should not be overstepping their boundaries either.

Should they allow illegal immigrants the right to vote?  NO!
Should they restrict a person's right to own a gun (against the 2nd ammendment)  NO!
Should they prevent people in their state from buying something from another state  NO!

We need to get back to a STATE run government where all of our citizens are afforded the freedom to live as they wish and thereby UNITE ourselves and become ONE NATION again.

PITY them....don't HATE them

I was think about this one day while I was in church during a lent service. It was the same week as the infamous health-care bill was passed by congress. Inside I was mad as hell about how our politicians trampled over the constitution and our political process all in the name of "progress".

Then I thought about how Jesus was treated. People told lies about him, mistreated him, bribed "friends of his" to turn on him. People who were against him, knew how to manipulate the political system against him in order to get their way. Other politicians tried to get out of making a decision by putting the decision on others (Pilate had "the people choose" who they wanted released even though he knew who "should be released"). And yet, up on the cross while people were still taunting him and trying to get him to say something bad back to them, Jesus says "Father forgive them, for they know NOT what they do".

I don't know if these politicians are knowingly destroying the system we have in this country or not. I don't know if they are "fools" or "evil genius's" but whatever their purpose, I refuse to hate them back.   Instead of hating them, I pity them.   What pathetic empty lives these people have who spend all their time, energy and money to destroy something as wonderful as FREEDOM. I find it ironic that these people (Obama, Reid and Pelosi) probably think that most of America wants to be them. When in fact, I think most of America despises them and what they stand for. I pity them also because I know the end of this story. I know that all that they do will in the end all be for naught. For my hope is not in the Constitution, but instead is in God and HIS salvation he has made possible through Jesus death and resurrection.   That is REAL HOPE FOR THE AGES. Not Obama's picture put on a poster and painted with red, white and blue colors.

It makes me think of the movie "Ghost". In the movie, people who are "bad" get dragged off by these nasty black spirits to hell. In the end of the movie, the bad guy (who is Patrick Swayze's friend) dies when a window falls and cuts into him. Patrick Swayze realizes what's about to happen and feels pity for his friend for he knows what awaits him. That is how I feel about our leaders today who have lied, cheated, bribed, extorted, manipulated and broken promises all to "win". It looks like they have won, but we know the end of the movie and we know what awaits them.

Therefore I do not hate them (that would be to come DOWN to their level), but instead I pity them as I would a drug addict who is hooked on Meth. For they too are addicted, but instead they are addicted to the drug of power and politics and it (like Meth) blinds them to their true nature and to their true situation. Like the Meth-addict who looks at themselves in the mirror and sees a handsome, well groomed "sexy" person, but in reality their face is full of sores with oozing puss, their eyes are yellow and their teeth are rotting out of their mouths.   These people cannot see what we see and therefore they are not to be hated, but instead should be pitied.

So go ahead Mr. President. Sign your bill.  Put your name in some history books.   It will all be gone in the end.

King George is running the show

I watched Glenn Beck on Friday night and listened as he talked with former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum about what comes if they pass the healthcare bill.  Rick said he felt that it would take years to enact this bill and 100's of thousands of pages of legislation.  Oh how niave some of these Republicans are!   Do they think that the "Center for American Progress" (CAP) has just been sitting around drinking coffee and singing "Cume-by-ya" for the past 10 or 15 years?  Hell no!  They have been busy little beavers writing the needed legislation and it's sitting in trucks in warehouses as we speak waiting to be called up by the White House" at a moments notice.   We are about to be "transformed" (in Obama's own words).

It's sad, that we often don't take totalitarians at their own word when they say they are going to "take over your companies and businesses" and then they go ahead and do it.  Hitler wrote his book "Mein Kamp" (My Dream) saying how he was going to take over the youth of the country and that they would lead the revolution to take over Germany.  It was all there in black-and-white and nobody took him seriously and he was allowed to do it.  The left says they want to takeover all of healthcare and that the current bill is only a "starter home from which they can make additions" and we are surprised?

Gird your loins America!   The battle has only just begun.  Don't put those signs and posters away!  We have a lot of work to do!  We need to send "King George" a new message that we will NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT!

The Redistribution of HEALTH

We all know of Obama's infamous statement ot Joe-the-Plumber on the redistribution of wealth, but now we are faced with yet another government redistribution.... HEALTH!   It amazes me that the same liberals that brought us health-care for the elderly in the form of Medicare and Medicaid, are now going to throw the elderly overboard in this this new healthcare bill.  As wel know, part of the way they plan to pay for it is by making cuts to Medicare so 20-25 year-olds can now have government paid healthcare.  Move over granny!  Generation X needs their medical mariujuana and they want it NOW!  This of course makes perfect sense if you know anything about John Holdren who is Obama's "Science Czar".  Holdren wrote a paper several years ago advocating for the distribution of healthcare based on "age".  In his curve, people under the age 15 start at zero and rise with each year.  At about age 20 (hey! isn't that when most people enter the work force and start paying taxes??) they start to peak.  Then around age 60 their healthcare distribution begins to decline (Hey! Isn't that when people usually retire and stop paying taxes??)  and the they fall off the proverbial "cliff" at abuot age 70 and go back to zero.

So in short:  HEALTHCARE $$ == TAX $$

If I were over the age of 60 right now I would be VERY VERY worried about this presidency and administration for this is only the beginning, for liberals only bleed for those who pay taxes and keep them in office.  In the future I see other people who wil be deemed "non-productive" such as: the mentally-ill, the mentally-challenged, the paralyzed, the physically handicapped and so on..

Please America!  Wake up and see you are being sold down the river on this bill!!  This bill is NOT about providing healthcare! Instead its about the control of healthcare and who gets it or doesn't get it.

Arnold is an out of touch A--hole

So Arnold thinks that the Tea Parties will go away once the economy improves.   Talking on Fox News, he says he thinks that the Tea Party is about anger towards government "not doing enough to fix the economy".    Obviously he has never come down from his throne to witness a Tea Party, let alone talk to anyone involved.  What about "Taxed Enough Already" does he not understand?   The TEA Party is not about government doing TO LITTLE.  No!  It's about an out of control government that is trying to do TOO MUCH to "fix the economy" and laying the price tag on the backs of its citizens.   He is sounding more and more progressive every day and I can't wait for him to be out of office.  Look at the spending he himself is responsible for:

1) The Stem-cell Research Bond  (3 Billion)
2) The High-Speed-Rail Bond (10 Billion ... just to get it going).

Just what makes Arnold a Republican anyway?   I don't get it.

Is he fiscally responsible?..............NO
Is he for legal reform?...................NO
Is he against unions?.....................NO
Is he against  abortion?.................NO

He has become the epitomy of the term RINO (Republican In Name Only) and we should put signs up all across America warning other states and counties to watch out for RINO's like this.  They will destroy your party from within and leave you with nothing.   They are cancer that will rot the system and leave a smelling, decaying pile of flesh unless treated and removed

Thanks Mr President!

Well I never thought I would ever say those words,  but there you have it in black and white: "Thank you Mr. President".   Of course if you have read any of my other blogs, you know I have very little good to say about the so-called "Commander-in-Chief" who is more like the king in the story "The King's new clothes" than anything else.   So what do I have to "thank" him for?   Let's be honest.  Who in this country has given 5 seconds of thought after Junior high-school US History about the "Progressive Movement"?  We all thought they were dead and gone by now.  But here we are in 2010 and they are still causing trouble (just under different names).   Like a slow growing cancer these idealogues infected the Democratic Party after their failures at the turn of the 20th century became revealed.   They went underground and changed their language to conceal their true intents.  "Priviledges" became "Rights" and "Rights" became "Priviledges".   Conrol became good and freedom became bad.

And then came Obama....

We now see and feel the cancer spreading through our country in our federal and state legislatures.  We are awake and we are looking for antidotes to rid ourselves of it.   And we are not just going to replace one cancer-ridden organ with another.  No!   We are asking the right questions now.   Not just "Do you believe in the Constitution?"  (which to many progressives is like sayign "Do you believe in Santa Claus")  , but instead "Do you believe that the Constitutions primary goal is to LIMIT the Federal Governement and give states and citizens complete and unfettered autonomy? "   We now understand words like "Fundamentally transform our country".   We have learned to develop a thick skin (some would say armor) to deflect the vicious attacks on us as a people.  We know we are not stupid as Bill Maher would say.   We are standing up for what we believe in and so are many state governments.  They are mad as hell as we are and they are not going to take it anymore either.   States like Utah are fighting back and saying "hands off our land!" by suiing the Feds who stole nearly 60% of Utahs land for their own use.  Where is that in the Constitution that the Federal Government can come in and declare whatever land it wants "Federal Land"?   I remember learning about how wonderful it was when Teddy Rosevelt passed the "National Parks Bill" but never once thought about the constitutionality of such a bill.  Where do they get the right to TAKE land from states that could use it for their own purpose?  Answer: no where.

But now the curtain has been pulled back and we see the "wizard" pulling his levers and knobs in order to control us and we are not impressed.  All of this is because President Obama.  Thank you Mr. President. Thank you!
