So far the Obama administration has failed to acknowledge the large turn out of Tea Parties across the country last week. Putting out statements that the Tea Party goers are "misdirecting their anger" shows how REALLY out of touch they are from most of America. By pointing out that "95% of Americans are getting a tax reduction" they fail to acknowledge that we are not as stupid and ignorant as they would like to believe. Since 40% don't pay taxes and will be getting a welfare check, those should not be included in their 95% figure. That leaves 55% will get some mild form of payroll tax, but will be paying more in FICA and other taxes that will be required to support the bailouts and other stimulus programs. Also, we know that these tax reductions are only temporary. That eventually, as the bills for the TRILLIONS of dolllars spent in the past few months will come due, we will need to all belly-up to the bar and pay for it all.
The Tea Parties were much more about an out-of-control government (Fed's Gone Wild!) spending our hard earned money and printing money like it was going out of fasion. That is was what I saw at the Tea Party in Sacramento at least. But our government instead covered their ears like little children and yelling loudly LALALALALALA so as to not get the message. The worst example of this came from our very own Nancy Pelosi who called the grass roots effort, "Astro-Turf" . This can only be compared to Queen Antionette telling the frrench peasants to "let them eat cake". (on a side note, I think she still needs a few more surgeries on her face to transform her in the the Wicked Witch of the West she is certainly becoming).
Its hard to tell whether our politicians are dumb-as-bricks or just deaf-as-bricks, but mostly likely its both. My hope is the Tea Parties will continue and will continue over the course of the next few years. They can't ignore us forever (and I mean BOTH the Democrats and the Republicans) and will eventually need to acknowledge our grievances.
